Renaming record types or families

You can rename a record type or family in a schema.

Before you begin

Before you rename a record type or family consider the impact to existing schemas, states, actions, hooks, and queries. For information see Naming restrictions.

About this task

You cannot rename the stateless system record types: ratl_replicas, history, attachments, groups, and users.

To rename a record type or family:

Procedure

  1. Start the Designer.
  2. Click Edit > Rename Record Type/Family.
  3. Select the class of the record type that you want to rename: State, Stateless, or Family.
  4. Select the record type from the Current list.
  5. Enter a new name in the New Name field. Within a schema, each record type and record type family name must be unique.

Results

After renaming a record type, you might need to update the values specified in any existing hooks or queries if they refer to an original name.
