Renaming fields

You can change the name of a field in a record type from the Record Fields grid.

Before you begin

When you name a field, do not use keywords that are reserved by the database vendor. See your vendor documentation for a list of reserved keywords. For more information, see Naming restrictions.

Procedure

To change the name of a field:

Start the Designer.
In the Schema Repository Explorer view, expand the Record Types folder in your schema and then double-click on a record type. The record type editor opens.
Click the Fields tab to view the Record Fields grid.
Right-click the field whose name you want to change and click Rename Field.
Type a new Field Name.

What to do next

After you rename a field, you may need to update the values specified in your hooks or queries if they refer to the original field name.
