Viewing a record

This tutorial module illustrates how to use the Rational® ClearQuest® CM API to retrieve a record from a user database.
After you have identified an available user database and are logged in to it, you can use the Rational ClearQuest CM API to access resources in a user database. This module provides an example for retrieving a record. The code example in this module extends the previous example (running a query by using the ExecuteQuery method) by adding the ability to view all the fields of a record returned by a query, not just the ones in the query's display fields.

Learning objectives

After completing the lessons in this module you will accomplish the following objectives:
  • Learn about the Rational ClearQuest CM API object and programming models for Rational ClearQuest records and fields
  • Understand the Rational ClearQuest CM API interfaces for records and properties
  • Learn about property requests
  • Understand how to write client application code for viewing records

Time required

This module should take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

Prerequisites

To complete this module, you will need to have completed the previous module, where you learned how to run a query and process the result set.
