Create an action

In this exercise, you create an action that allows users to transition defects to the new state that you added in the Add a state exercise. To create an action called Reassign:

1. In the Designer workspace, expand the Record Types folder, the Defect folder, and the States and Actions folder.
2. Double-click Actions.
3. In the Actions grid, click Edit > Add Action.
4. In the Defect Action window, enter Reassign in the Action Name field of the General tab. Leave the Type field set to CHANGE_STATE. Only an action of type CHANGE_STATE, DUPLICATE, or SUBMIT can initiate a state transition. Other action types, such as MODIFY, do not affect the record state.
5. Close the Defect Action window. The Reassign action is added to the Actions grid.
