Create a distribution chart
Rational® ClearQuest® provides a set of charts in the Public Queries folder that you can use. You can also create your own charts. This exercise shows you how to create a distribution chart that includes the number of priority 1 and 2 defects assigned to each user.
To create a distribution chart:
- In the client, click .
- In the Choose Record Type window, select Defect and click OK.
- When you select a chart type, information about that type is displayed. On the first page of the Chart Wizard, select Distribution Chart and click Next.
- On the Parameters page you specify the fields to display along each axis
of the chart.
Because this chart will display the number of defects along the vertical axis, leave the vertical axis Field set to id and the Function set to Count.

- On the Display Type page, select Bar for the Chart Display Type and click Next.
- On the Style page, select 3D and Color and click Finish to run the query and generate the chart.
- Click Rational ClearQuest saves the chart in your Personal Queries folder by default. Do not close the chart window. and save the chart with the name sample_chart.
- Select the Query editor tab of the chart. You will add a filter so that only priority 1 and 2 defects are included.
- In the Fields pane, double-click the priority field. The Filter window opens and prompts you to specify the filter parameters for the priority field.
- In the Operator field, select Equal.
- Click Values to display a list of possible values for the field.
- Select the check boxes for the values 1 and 2; then click OK.
- Close the Filter window.
